Time-of-flight Resolution of a Scintillation Counter Equippedwith Magnetic-resistant Fine-mesh Photomultipliers

The first measurement of the time-of-flight (TOF) resolution of aBicron-408 scintillation counter equipped with magnetic-resistantfine-mesh Hamamatsu R7761-70 photomultipliers is presented. The datawere obtained using the proton beam of the MC50 Cyclotron of theKorea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences (KIRAMS). TheTOF resolution for $sim$$45$-MeV protons is $18.2$ ps. Itsdependence on the light output $L$ is well fitted by $41.6ps/sqrt{L/L_{MIP}}$, where $L_{MIP}$ denotes the light outputproduced by relativistic minimum-ionizing muons which deposit$Delta Esim 6$ MeV in the detector volume.
