The following rules are to be applied for the review procedures for manuscripts submitted to Journal of the Korean Physical Society (JKPS).
① After checking that the submitted manuscript is written according to the “Instruction to Authors” in JKPS website, the Editorial Office will assign an accession code and a secret code to the submitted manuscript, and acknowledge the receipt of the manuscript to the corresponding author.
② In case of the regular issue contributed by the manuscripts submitted to international conferences, the manuscripts should be received by the Editorial Office within a month after the conference. In principle, the issue contributed by the international conference is published within 6 months after the conference is held.
① The Editorial Office sends the received manuscripts to the Editor in charge. However, the authors of the manuscripts shall not be the editors in charge.
② The Editor (including the Executive Editor and Vice Executive Editor) in charge of the received manuscript will select more than two-referees and notify the Editorial Office of the referee list, and the Editorial Office will send the manuscript to the referees for evaluation.
③ For the rapid submission, the Editorial Office may pay a reviewing fee to the referees in charge of the rapidly submitted manuscripts.
④ When a referee is unable to review the manuscript, the Editorial Office will notify the editor in charge of the manuscript, who will reselect a referee and notify the Editorial Office based upon Article 3-②.
① The referee will be requested to send a referee's report to the Editorial Office within two weeks of reception of the manuscript.
② The Editorial Office shall encourage the corresponding referee to send the referee's report promptly, unless the Editorial Office have received the referee's report within two weeks.
③ If the Editorial Office have not received the referee's report within four weeks, the Editorial Office will notify the Executive Editor, who may select another referee again pursuant to Article 3.
① The Editor in charge of the manuscript will review the reports from all the referees and make a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief as to the publication of the manuscript.
② The Editorial Office will notify the referees' reports to the corresponding author of the manuscript for which a revision or a re-examine process is required.
③ The Editor in charge of the manuscript will review the revision of the manuscript, and make a recommendation as to the publication of the manuscript.
④ The revised manuscript for a re-examine will be sent to the referee who requested the revision, and the procedures of Article 4 will be followed.
⑤ If the referees' opinion is in conflict with the author, the author may request the replacement of the referee or the Editor, and whether to replace the editor or not shall be decided by the Editor-in-Chief.
⑥ If an act that deviates from research ethics (e.g., plagiarism, duplication, deceptive result report, etc.) is found during the review of the manuscript, the author may be requested a vindication and the Editorial Committee shall review the manuscripts and vindicating materials and make a referral to the Ethics Committee.
① The Editor-in Chief will make final decision concerning the publication of manuscripts for which recommendations were made by the Editor in charge of the manuscript.
② When a final decision is made for the publication of a manuscript, the Editorial Office will notify the corresponding author of the decision along with the expected date of publication.
③ The Editorial Office will notify the corresponding author of the manuscript which is deemed inappropriate for publication, along with the referee’s report.
The Editorial Office is required to regularly report on the review processes to the Executive Editor.
① When the organizing committee of an international conference requests to publish the manuscripts submitted to the conference as a regular issue of the JKPS, the review process may be delegated to the organizing committee of the international conference, but whether it is delegated or not shall be decided two months before the conference opening.
② In case of the delegation to the organizing committee of the international conference, the organizing committee must have a separate review committee including two or more editors of JKPS and have the review process under this regulation.
The Editorial Office posts the results of review processes on the Internet Homepage of JKPS where the authors of the manuscripts may peruse the review processes.
